Because St. Mary Magdalene does not have a full time priest or any paid staff, the church conducts its business using the model of mutual ministry. The committees responsible for the functioning of the church report to the vestry. Committee assignments and individual official roles are listed below.

Church Building Committee

Members:  George Brewton, Bill Kitterman, Lil Easterlin. 

Function:  Maintenance of church building; consideration and approval of changes to the building and its furnishings; acquisition of additional furnishings or equipment.

Finance Committee 

Members:  Lil Easterlin, George Brewton.

Function:  Budget; bills; appropriation; fund raising.

Parish House Committee

Members:  Dean Morgan, Louise Abbot, Lillian Easterlin.

Function:  Annual report to diocese, organization of office, maintenance of files, acquisition of new furnishings or equipment.

Hospitality Committee

Members:  Lil Easterlin, Paige Brown, Betsy Polhill, Donnie Hodges, Linda Pritchard

Function:  Schedule, plan, and organize congregational meetings (Shrove Tuesday, church meals, receptions, etc.); gifts, flowers, etc. to others from the congregation.

Grounds/Cemetery Committee

Members:  Paula Allen, Lillian Easterlin, Helen Aikman. 

Function:  Maintain grounds and cemetery; mowing, planting, pruning, weeding, fertilizing, watering, etc.

Worship/Altar Committee

Members:  Louise Abbot, Hulet Kitterman, Dean Morgan, Lil Agel, John Saunders, Bill Kitterman, Margaret Kitterman. 

Function:  Arrange for a schedule all church services (Louise); prepare bulletins for all church services (Hulet); prepare music for services (Bill, Margaret) attend to everything required at the altar before and after Sunday morning (Lil) and on Thursdays (Dean, Louise); take care of altar linens and vestments (Dean); maintain brass and silver, candles at altar, and Paschal candle; arrange for flowers in the altar area when appropriate.

Communication Committee

Members:  Bill/Hulet Kitterman, Louise Abbot, Rosa Green, Donnie Hodges, Lee Love, Helen Aikman. 

Function:  Provide notices, minutes of vestry meetings, and newsletters to church members; correspond with Diocesan office; write notes of acknowledgement and appreciation for various gifts to church; update web page; keep local media informed of church notices and news.

Outreach/Evangelism Committee 

Members:  Lillian Easterlin, Paula Allen, George Brewton, Louise Abbot, Jill Bennett. 

Function:  Keep vestry and congregation aware of needs in the community which SMM might be able to meet; discuss and implement outreach ministries.

Christian Education Committee

Members:  Louise Abbot, Hulet Kitterman, John Sanders. 

Function:  Provide for Christian education for children, young adults, and adults.  Choose and order material to be used; arrange for nursery.

SextonPaula Allen.

Function:  Prepare church and parish house (lights, heating/cooling) for services and meetings and see that everything is left in order afterwards; act as ex officio consultant to the church building, parish house, and parish office committees; in cooperation with appropriate committees periodically check church, parish house, and grounds for maintenance and repair.

Convocational Representatives.  Senior warden and vestry members.

Liaison to the Diocesan Office.  Louise Abbot.

Function:  Communicate to the diocesan office; bring information from the diocese to the congregation.
