Instructions for Service Participants

At the Holy Eucharist, the lector reads the Old Testament Lesson and the Prayers of the People; at Morning Prayer the Lector reads the Old Testament Lesson, leads the Psalm, and reads the Epistle.  The Lay Minister appointed leads the Psalm and reads the Epistle at the Holy Eucharist, and reads the Gospel at Morning Prayer.  (We have a little book concerning the pronunciation of Biblical  names which is usually on the counter near our register.)  He or she also has the duty every Sunday of filling in our church register.  On Thursday afternoon, whoever reads Compline is responsible also for filling in the register.  If that person has not attended the Eucharist at 5 pm, information can be gotten from someone who did.  Please do not add the cumulative number of communicants in the register.

If you are unable to perform any assigned duty, please contact someone to substitute for you.  Members' phone numbers and email addresses are available in the printed church directory.  You may obtain a copy of the directory by contacting Senior Warden Helen Aikman by telephone at 202.491.8610 or by email at stmmlouisville@aol.com.
